Life and Times Of Captain Bridog Rackem Empty Life and Times Of Captain Bridog Rackem

‘ow I came to be.
Well, I was born in Scotland in the port of Banff, the son of a poor fisherman. Who was a boat builder in the off season’s as well.
I and me Brother’s alike, Work'ed on the Boat, or on the dock’s. Depending the season or situation.
Me poor Mother o’ 10, cared for all of us. Keepin’ ‘ouse, Sellin’ fish, an’ teachin’ us motley lot arrr abc’s an’ arrr grammer’s, an' ‘ow ta cypher a bit as well.

We all worked ‘ard in me family, we did. Lost one o’ me ciblin’s over the rail one year, An’ then two the next Season, in the same nasty squall!
Me third year bein’ allowed on the boat, We were out a lot farther than usual one morn', me Dah was tryin’ ta land the big catch.
‘twas a foggy, morn’ it was. We were haulin’ in our net’s, Full to the brim they was. ‘twas quite a joyus catch indeed were it.
Now, as I was sayin’ before. We were out a lot farther than on a normal day and unfortunately it was so very foggy we coulden’t see ourselves let alone each other.
All of a sudden I here’s water breakin’ across a prow! There was the creakin of riggin’ and plankin’ as well.
I heres a shout in the grayness, “Ahoy!” When all of a sudden a couple o’ set’s of graplin’ hooks grabed hold of our wee boat.

A couple scurvey dog’s jumped aboard an’ run me Dah through! Just like that no question’s no nothin’! Just ran ‘im through ‘e did.
Killed me older brother’s an’ sent 'em ta Davey jones they did.
They grabbed me, and what they could salvage from our meager wee boat. Took me aboard there ship, an’ the bloke smelled o’ rum and unclenliness, Quite nasty individual as I recall.
They stood me in front o’ the Captain o’ this vessle. ‘e eyeballed me up and down, said ‘e was a Captain under the Dread Saint’s banner. Then told the officer on duity to place me in the bilge for the remainder o’ me stay onboard this vessle. and ‘e explained ta me how the only way off his ship was to feed the fish!

So there I was, shackled in the bilge, pumpin’ out the bilge and the foulness that went with it. Stuck there three year’s, I was. Shackled like an animal, in the dark, suffrin’ was I. Why only gettin’ a daily plate o’ wormed meat, and Hard tack , I only got water to drink, and an occaisional apple or two to keep away the scurvey.

I decided I had me enough one day, at long last I was batty enough, and needed a change of status.
I had lost so much weight, quite thin was I. I saved me daily gruel one day in particular,
Rubbed the gray liquid concoction into me shackles an’ leg. An’ worked the hard iron band over me foot scuffin’ me skin ever so lightly, (with a wee bit o’ pain) and set it softly in the bilge so’s not to alert anyone nearby.
Crept slowly through the filth did I, Like a rat creepin’ along the riggin’. I came to a bulkhead, Spied me a small cut out in the wall down in the nasty bilge water, had to dunk me self did I, to get through to the other side.
I do try to forget that part o’ me rise to fame I’ll ‘ave yeh be knowin’.
Well I come’s up in this other whole section o’ bilge ever so stealthly, an’ spie’s me this old crazy lookin’ bloke. With long stringy white hair, streaked with the filth o’ the bilge. Long lankey Body, scarred from a lifetime of misfortune.
He had one dark hazed over eye, looked like the eye o’ death it did, and He had a rag tied over His face covering the Hole in his head where his other eye once was.
Beckoned me over he did, So I complied with his request I did. He whisper’s to me, an’ say’s, "krunch be me name, if you will let me, (he he) I will lead you out of this bilge and quietly try to get you to the captain’s quarter’s" say’s he. “tell me More say’s I”.
.”Know’s where a cutlass an’ a old blunderbuss pistol be says he" (he he)
"So", say’s I "How do we be gettin’ you along with me? As Yeh be shackled to this post down here in the bilge?"
“Me Shackle's been loose a long time me hearty, (he he)” says he.
"OK" says I, "Lead me the way. I have some vengance to extract from that so called Captain of the Dread Saint’s."
"He killed me Dah! He killed me Brother’s, Sunk me boat, Robbed me poor poor Mah of the knowledge o’ what happened to her Husband and son’s. To fend for herself.
"I'll kill that scurvey son of a dog!" Say's I, "lead me to the weapon’s, and no funny stuff or I’ll be killin’ yeh, ya old fool!"
“he he" say’s he, “ I want him dead just as well as you do me hearty. You kill the captain, I’ll tame the crew. Take this ship we will, me and you. "
"With your youth and my knowledge and wisdom. We will make You a most Infamous and feared pirate”
"Intresting proposition" says I. “Follow my lead” say’s he. “if you have as much bollock’s as yeh have shown leavin’ yer post, an' breakin' out of yer prison, out on the high sea as yah did, You may be the one to finnally kill this Barbaras Captain, take the crew, and command the sea’s wherever you'll go to” say’s he.
Led me to a loaded old blunderbuss pistol and a rusty old cutlass, did he. Then we crept our way through the decks and he showed me a way into a secret exit of the Captain’s cabin. “You go there” say’s he. "Kill the captain quickly"
“ When yer done, and if yeh be livin’ bring the Captain's head to the bridge, I ‘ave a few contacts within the crew” says he "and none too maney favor said Captain, so are ripe for a mutany", and off he went.

Crept into the captain's cabin quiet as a sneekin’ puppy did I. Spied his majesty a sleepin’ on his bunk!
Hmm, nice and easy this be, think’s I. Creep's silently up to him I doe’s, put me hand over his mouth, and slit his throat did I. I watched his gaping knowing eyes as his life's blood ran across my fingers.

As he drew his last breath, I hacked off his head. Opened the door to the bridge, where I was met by a most astounded crew. To shout's of glee! “Freed us did he” “no longer slaves to that tyranical beast are we”
I must say I was more than relieved to be hearing these thing’s, when it could have been so much different. (or even worse)

“Hail to the new Captain!” Say's me crazy new old friend, “Hail to the new Captain. Captain Bridog Rackem”
A hailstorm of shout’s went up from the crew, affirming me new old friend’s hail’s.
So, Me an’ me new first mate “kaptan krunch” and me loyal crew, pointed our prow to the west, to the new world, full of Spanish gold and Naval ships to be taken. Off to the new world of rapin’ an’ pilligin’ fame and fortune.

Created a society of killer, dreaded, like minded pirates, an’ we be callin’ ourselves Rackem’s Raider’s to this very day. Tryin' to take over the Carribean, One port at a time.
Be Warned o National’s We will be huntin’ you!

Coming to a battle near you!
Bridog Rackem.

continued...
This be me claim to fame in th’ New World. And ‘ow the Raider’s got their start.
Well once me new loyal crew an’ I made it to the warm tropic’s of the Caribbean, We found it quite a competitive place, thar be fleet’s of British, Spanish, and French, war ship’s. All manner of small group of
Profiteering pirate gang’s. We found it a bit triflin’ to make a good profit alone, what avoiding the national’s and the small group’s of pirate gang’s as a single entity it was hard enough just staying afloat and out of sight of adventurous privateer’s.

So I met a Pirate of Spanish origins by the name of Morgan Lacerta. Morgan was quite a profiteer and captain and taught me crew and I some of the trick’s of the trade. We found some other single entities out there in the waters of the carebe’. We called ourselves, The Immortal Brethren.
A tough breed we were, we quickly gained strength and power and began a great and lucrative pirate society.
We grew in massive numbers and covered most of the sea. We became powerful and well respected.

Morgan being true to his hot Spanish blood, became quite ruthless and tried to rule all ships in our somewhat large armada, with an iron fist, his demand’s became too much for most in the fleet,
And one by one they began leavin’ our once happy band in the dark of night.
“Well” Say’s Krunch to me. “We ‘ave a choice. We can follow our mate’s back out into the open waters and try our luck, or stay here with Morgan who is totally unreasonable in his request’s”.
“So” say’s I to krunch. “I believe we can salvage this, our Immortal Brethren and get Morgan to come about, I think we should stay the course”.
Krunch was all right with my decision at first, and supported my effort’s to keep us all together. But one day Morgan was just a little over the top and caused one of krunch’s good friend’s to leave as well as some other’s
Krunch came to me and said he had had enough of Morgan and his antics and we should leave this tyranny. I still held my ground and told him that we would stick it out,
Krunch disagreed, and told me he was going to gather all who left us. To begin a new pirate society called Rackem’s Raider’s in my name, and that it would be ready for my leadership whenever I would like to come along and stop this foolhardy attempt at saving Morgan, and the so very few who followed him.
And he commandeered a ship and half me crew and disappeared as well.

I stuck it out with Morgan and we were slowly falling apart both in numbers as well as morale.
After a few months of grueling disappointment and all had left the immortal brethren, I went to Morgan and explained that we were done.
“We have no member’s any longer” Says I. “We have no chance of resuscitating this once profitable group”. “ I shall be the last member to leave you my friend, good luck to you”.
Morgan went on his way and Joined the spanish armada, and is there to this day.

Then I left. Only to rejoin krunch and all of me hearty’s of old. And quite a few new ships and faces as well. Krunch was hard at work in my absence.
Krunch say’s to me,” are you ready to assume yer rightful place as head of this motley band?”
“Aye” says I so with much ceremony and ‘eart felt reunion’s I became the head of the most wonderful bunch of cutthroat’s in the sea, growing in numbers constantly and growing in stature and wealth as well.
We sail the carebe to this day searchin’ out an opportunity, or just plain reeking havoc on the seas.
So look out all ye who get in our path we will not be stopped! Either join with us, in this endeavor of turning the carebe' to Pirate colors. Be sharp o national’s, we be comin' fer ya!
